Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Susan Gregory attended the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and graduated with a BA in U.S. History (Phi Beta Kappa). After graduation, she worked on the White House Staff of President Gerald R. Ford.

Susan entered on duty with the FBI and subsequently graduated from New Agent Training in 1979. Her first assignment was the Washington Field Office, working National Security and espionage cases.

After ten years as a street agent, Susan entered FBI Management, first as a squad supervisor. She was transferred to FBI Headquarters and continued supervising National Security operations, holding mid-level and senior management positions. She received the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in National Security Matters and other commendations. She was selected by the White House National Security Council (NSC) and the FBI to serve as Director for Counterintelligence, NSC.

After retiring from the FBI, Susan instructed Department of Defense personnel in intelligence operations before they were deployed abroad.

After years of living in suburban neighborhoods, the move to Flat Rock allowed Susan to achieve a life-long dream - to have a true hometown. Her volunteer activities prior to accepting an appointment to the Village Council include being an officer of her homeowners’ association and a being an active member of Historic Flat Rock, Inc. (HFR).
